Behavior of polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) in prostheses on dental implants. A review.
2020
Background The development of new and innovative materials such as high performance polymers (PEEK) opens a wide therapeutic range in implant prostheses. They are presented as alternative materials to metal and zirconium alloys in the manufacture of structures and attachments for implant prostheses and fixed and removable dental substitutes. The objective of this review is to know the characteristics of this material and thus assess its advantages and disadvantages in its possible applications in prostheses on dental implants. Material and methods A bibliographic search was carried out through the PubMed and Scopus search engines, of articles published from 2007 to 2020, excluding all artic…

2020
Purpose: The aim of this comparative in vitro study was to assess the bond strength and mechanical failure of carbon-fiber-reinforced composites against cobalt&ndash
Recurrent central giant cell granuloma in the mandible: surgical treatment and dental implant restoration.
2007
Central giant cell granuloma is an uncommon benign intraosseus lesion of jaws. Traditional treatment has been local curettage, although aggressive sub-types have a high tendency to recur. This patient report describes a recurrent central giant cell granuloma involving the body of the mandible in a 48-year-old-woman. Initial treatment of lesion consisted of curettage and peripheral ostectomy. When recurrence was detected one year later, an en bloc resection and defect regeneration with a composite bone graft of autogenous bone, xenograft, and autologous platelet-rich plasma was carried out. Adequate new bone formation was observed during follow-up of 24 months. Two dental implants were place…
Peri-Implant Behavior of Tissue Level Dental Implants with a Convergent Neck
2021
Introduction: The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze the radiographic peri-implant bone loss of bone level implants and tissue level implants with a convergent neck in screw-retained single crowns and in screw-retained fixed partial prostheses, after two years of functional loading. Materials and methods: The sample was divided into two groups according to their type: Group I: supracrestal implants with convergent transmucosal neck
